The pioneer class of Advance Level Rei-Ki graduates

We were greeted by the most spectacular sunrise on day 1 of the seminar.
What better way to start the day.
Astonishingly beautiful it was.

The views from our seminar room were spectacular

Break time on the patio

The happy Rei-Ki 2 bunch

And to top it all off, 3 of the boys had their birthdays on the same day!
So we decided to celebrate in style.
How can you beat a chocolate cake??!!

It was a sunset like no other at the end of day 2.
Amazing!
A true occassion to remember.
Unforgettable!

  1. A Reiki Coincidence

I am so delighted to see these photos. They remind me of the wonderful days we spent in the Philippines during our Rei-Ki II class.

After I had attended the Reiki II class, I was a bit worried…..
Worried that…… I was not capable of performing the role as a Reiki II “practitioner”.
I was also worried that I was not as sensitive as the other graduates. They always had some very interesting stories or experience to share.
    But not me.

Though I was quite frustrated, I kept on using my hands.

One night, a strange feeling came upon me. I had a strong desire to send Reiki to my son who is studying aboard. This was really strange as I never had this feeling after my son left home for more than six months.

The desire grew stronger & stronger. I was visualizing the face of my son floating in front of me, just like watching a movie. And suddenly a voice cried out from my heart, “Send Reiki to your son! Send Reiki to your son!” The voice was so compelling and did not want to stop. And so I decided to just follow what the voice was telling me to do.

I looked at the clock when I start sending distant Reiki to my son. It was about 10:30pm. When I started sending him Reiki, I could feel the immense rate at which he was absorbing the energy. He was in great demand of Reiki! “Why?” I wondered. But I continued sending Reiki to him for more than two hours that night.

The following day, my son called to tell us that he had a terrible flu for more than a week. And yesterday in particular, his flu had gotten worse. He was apparently running a fever for a whole day. Though he had taken all the medication the doctor had given him, his body temperature kept on rising. He was finally sent to hospital by his room mates at about 10:30 that night. He was admitted for a day & was discharged when his fever had subsided.

I finally understood what the ‘voice’ was telling me to do.
    A coincidence….wouldn’t you say so?

  2. Change with Rei-ki

Master Selvam initiated me to be a Rei-ki channel on March 28, 1999. In nearly a decade of immersion in this benevolent energy I have become very attuned with all aspects of my life – the environment, friends, colleagues, strangers on the streets, my actions whether work or play, mental being, physical health and a renewed spirituality that tempered my emotions and feelings about people that are close to me and myself. Slowly but surely I am changing to be a better person, though I know I still have a long way to go.

Now I have often played with my inner child and perhaps sometimes let him take charge while the socially acceptable and mature persona gets hidden in my often child-like, if not childish, behaviour. What a way to stay young.

Rei-ki is now so pervasive in my daily living that often it is taken for granted. It is only after certain seemingly impossible events have occurred that I am reminded that they happen not by coincidence but for good reasons because of it.

Most recently I have been training regularly for the Oxfam Trailwalker and other running races. As I have advanced to Level 2, often in a race when the competition gets fierce and I begin to feel tired I just mentally give Rei-ki to myself. It works and helps to get rid of the tiredness to the extent that my race performances are now better than what they were several years ago, over the same courses.

On November 7 this year we started the Trailwalker (100 km ultra-marathon - www.oxfamtrailwalker.org.hk) with in a team of four hikers / runners (average age 56), three of whom are Rei-ki channels, under the most severe heat / humidity conditions on record as far as Trailwalkers are concerned. Since we targeted to finish the event in less than 18 hours to qualify for the super-trailwalker certificates we had to run or jog fast whenever and wherever we could. Shortly after doing about 12 km I felt I needed Rei-ki to help me counter the high relative humidity and hot sun. I also abandoned myself to how fast / slow Rei-ki guided me. In hind sight, I am glad what I did or I would have been airlifted to a hospitable because of heat stroke had I pushed myself too hard some where during the ascent to Kai Kung Shan.

At about the 16 km mark I felt dizzy and told my teammates that I had to rest and needed a cool can of coke to get revived. Fortunately both were available. The coke was finished in a minute and after three minutes lying on the cool grass with one hand on my belly button and the other on my chest I became alive. That was to remain so, with regular intakes of cold coke until we reached the Finish about 18.5 hours from the Start.

At 6 km past the half-way mark the one teammate who is not a Rei-ki channel felt stomach upset, dizziness and ringing in his ears. He was slowing down on the gently inclined paved road to Gold Hill, contrary to his forte of strong uphill walk. Realizing that he was having problems two of us put our hands on his shoulders, passing him Rei-ki, to help him along. Later, with warm food and proper liquid intake this teammate recovered a little bit but was still slow. So we passed more Rei-ki to him whenever possible.

With roughly 20 km to go and 2 hour 20 minutes remaining to 18 hours we decided to make a run for it on the rolling paved roads and later trails along the Tai Lam Reservoir. However, after nearly 2 hours of fast running we reached the reservoir catchments road at 2:44 am on November 8. The distance to the Finish there is 4 km. We unanimously agreed that we could not run 4 minutes per km in the conditions we were then and switched to fast walk. The non-channel teammate again felt unease and actively asked us to give him more Rei-ki, which carried him for almost the entire distance to the Finish, crossed by all four of us in cheerful spirits and among applause by our supporters and others.

Throughout the event I urged the other two teammates, who were initiated just a week before, to give themselves Rei-ki whenever they could while walking on paved roads. I also gave IDD Rei-ki (Level 2) to the non-channel teammate.

We think Rei-ki is one of the reasons we achieved our record time and championship in the veteran category.
